"When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies." -James Matthew Barrie, Peter Pan

(As told to me by the children)
"When I was just 6, my friend gave me a big huge pinecone and once I thought I saw something purple in it. I think it was a fairy!" - Ashley, 7 yrs old
"Once I had a dream that I saw a fairy, it was the color of the rainbow and it was flying all around my head." -Kayla, 4 yrs old
"I lost my tooth at my grandpa’s house. When I was sleeping I saw the toothfairy she was grabbing my tooth, and I was trying to chase her off. My mom was having a shower, so I ran to her room and I said, Mom my tooth is lost!" -Katelyn, 6 yrs old
"... I built a fairy house and I got to see a fairy, it was nice to me and it talked to me too. She said her name was Rakeya, she had brown skin and blue eyes." -Mikala, 8 yrs old
"I had my first (and so far, last) faerie sighting when I was about 8. One night, I was trying desperately to sleep, but I could not for the world! Every time I did fall asleep, nightmares haunted me. I curled up in my bed and then looked to my right at the shelves across the room at one point. I swear, through the darkness, I saw faeries dancing and flying around and upon my shelves with my books! They made me smile, and I watched them have a merry time until I finally fell asleep. I think they used their faerie dust to give me good rest that night, because I had good dreams after seeing them." - Mackenzie, 13 yrs old
I am not so sure whether I saw a fairy or not. Sometimes, I see these bright white lights circling around in the air. One time when I was trying to sleep in the dark, I saw about 10 bright white lights circling in the air and I was not sure what it was. I usually see those during the night. Sometimes, during the day, I see these circular things either floating up twoards the sky and dissapearing or floating down in the distance. I do believe in fairies, and my two friends see them all the time. But for me, I never actually see them. One time in my old house, I swear that I could feel somebody grasping onto my feet when I was walking up the stairs in the morning. I was so scared that I ran to my parents room and they did not believe me. - Amatauallah One time when I was 6 years old I was in my backyard watering the flowers. I was thinking that maybe I should leave some food for any fairies so i left some berries and a note saying that i would really like to see them from a distance so i would not hurt them. The next morning i went out to the backyard and saw that the berries had been eaten and a trail of leaves led to the bushes. I followed the trail and I saw a fairy with white hair wearing a long, blue dress sleeping on a flower. I sat down and watched her sleep. A few minutes later my mom called me from inside. I turned my head for a split second, when i looked back the fairy was gone. Ever since then I have never seen a fairy. - Ahmad
Adult Sightings:
"One summer, I was sitting in my backyard watching my 6 year old daughter build a fairy house out of sticks and pinecones. Out of the corner of my eye, I swear, I saw a tiny fairy watching from under a flower petal in the garden. She ducked down when I turned my head to look. I think she was waiting patiently for her new home to be complete..." - Danielle Hanratty
"We did not have a big home and not enough bedrooms so I used to take turns sleeping with my Nana and my Aunty. We would sit up in my Nana’s bed, which was a huge high bed, and she would tell me stories about the fairies. She built fairy houses and placed them in the garden. I still have one – it is very old and crumbled so I have placed it inside so it will not perish further.
One night she woke me up to show me ‘fairy lights’ – through her bedroom floated little round circles of white light – they bounced around the room and went out her window – I have never seen them again. Nana had seen them often in her life." - Janelle Lansley, Australia
Fairies are very shy folk and make you work hard just to catch a simple glimpse of them. They are almost always present where there are flowers & trees… so tread carefully, a fairy may be near. Fairies flutter quietly by us, sometimes appearing as a flash of light in the corner of your eye. When you turn to look, nothing is there. For this reason there have not been very many sightings of them.
